A Taste of Winter Park

Winter Park, Colorado has greatly expanded its list of restaurants over the years.  From American to Turkish to Italian, it offers a plethora of choices for the adventurous palate.  If you are searching for a home in Winter Park, this information is especially useful.  People ski in the winter months; people bike during the summer- but people eat year-round.  When scoping out prospective properties, buyers want to know what is there to do, and sometimes more importantly, what is there to eat.

A Look At the Winter Park Dining Scene

The first recommendation on our list would have to be Volario’s, a northern Italian restaurant right along main street. For those who love incredible, authentic northern Italian cuisine served in a family-friendly atmosphere, you are sure to love this locale. After a long day skiing, there is nothing more satisfying than a rich Italian dish or a warm brick-oven baked pizza and a couple of drinks. This restaurant is the holder of the 2020 Diner’s choice award for a reason.

For your next stop, we advise you to take in Deno’s Mountain Bistro.  It captures the essence of Winter Park with a delicious steak, an extensive list of aged wines, and the ambiance that sets the mood for a magical experience.  With items like gorgonzola fondue and their flavorful Atlantic salmon, your mouth will thank you later.  This is a great choice for a night out on the town or a fine dining experience with your significant other.  Deno’s has been a part of Winter Park since 1976.  There’s definitely something to be said about its longevity.

We love Randi’s Grill & Pub because it’s so versatile.  Pumpkin pancakes and grilled tomatoes with corned beef hash have bedazzled their way onto the breakfast menu.  Cinnamon roll pancakes, made with cream cheese frosting, and swiss cheese skillets are among some of the other choices.  Maybe you are speaking to Winter Park realtors because you’re no longer interested in early mornings and it’s time to enjoy a little r and r.  Well, guess what?  Randi’s also has a lunch and dinner menu.  Irish nachos are a real thing and not just served by one of the vendors at the Astros’ game.  They have corned beef brisket over kettle chips, a fantastic cheese sauce, sauerkraut, green onions, and topped with a dressing.  You have to try them.  And let’s not forget about the baked lobster mac.  I mean, really??  Aside from the tasty concoctions that Randi’s has created, they’ve also been friendly to your budget and your wallet.  The food is very affordable.

One of my favorite things about the Colorado Rockies is that pizza places try to outdo each other.  Hernando’s Pizza Pub has been in business since 1967.  That does not happen by accident.  Establishments like this are what help support the Winter Park real estate market.  This pizza joint has a really fun vibe with over 35,000 decorated dollar bills on the wall.  Their hand-tossed, rolled crust is to die for!  And then, you can choose from a list of specialty pizzas or make your own, with one of many ingredients.  Pizza Pedal’s is also located in Winter Park.  While their crust may not be as thick as Hernando’s, they make up in the size of their pizza.  Each of their pies are made to order, so their process takes a little bit longer.  They also have delicious ice cream treats after you’ve had your dinner.

Goody’s Mountain Creperie is climbing our list.  This spot has such a fun menu with savory crepes like the Mary Jane, filled with brie, bacon, sautéed mushrooms, onions, spinach, and a cranberry citrus glaze.  Is your mouth watering yet?  What about an apple strudel crepe, which includes white chocolate and caramel sauce to accompany the apple strudel and cream, or a s’more crepe that takes you back to summer camping trips or bonfires in your backyard fire pit?  Goody’s has it going on.

For the fish-taco-loving people of the world, Winter Park has an eatery you may want to check out.  Pepe Osaka’s Fishtaco has ceviche tacos with sashimi-grade tuna; beer-battered tilapia, shrimp, lobster tacos (You had me at beer-battered shrimp.); mahi-mahi al pastor tacos; pork carnitas; and seriously, there are more!  This fusion restaurant combines several cultures and turns them into a universal, delicious taco eatery.

For those willing to wait until Christmas when it re-opens, The Devil’s Thumb Ranch Restaurant is a must-visit. Best of all, there is a resort and spa attached. The Devil’s Thumb Ranch Restaurant offers a number of unique dishes such as bacon-wrapped elk loin and apple-butternut gnocchi. This is also the place to visit if you want a delicious steak and a few drinks at the tavern.
